About This Book
Elsa often hides who she really is. She keeps her feelings for Rye a secret. She also hides that she doesn't like how men run the world. Most importantly, she hides her special power: songlight. She keeps this secret deep inside. In Brightland, people with songlight are called "Unhumans" and everyone hates them. Rye is the only other person Elsa knows with songlight. Their shared secret has brought them close. One terrible day, Elsa's life falls apart. She doesn't know what to do. Then, a girl suddenly appears before her. But the girl isn't actually there. Her songlight power has been drawn to Elsa's intense sadness. Elsa lives in a quiet village by the sea. Her new friend, Nightingale, lives far away in a city. Nightingale's father is a government official whose job is to find and get rid of Unhumans. Elsa and Nightingale never thought they'd connect using songlight. But when they do, and when they understand how powerful they are, they'll be thrown into a war that could destroy them. This strong, exciting three-book series comes from an award-winning writer publishing her first novel. If you like books by Sabaa Tahir and Adrienne Young, you'll love this.
About the Author

Moira Buffini
Hi, I'm Moira Buffini. I write plays, movie scripts, and I've been in charge of TV shows. Lately, I've also started writing novels. My first novel is called Songlight, and Faber published it. I was born in England, but my parents are Irish. I wrote my very first play when I was fourteen. Since then, I've written many plays. Four of them were for a really important theater in the UK called the National Theatre. I've also written plays for other theaters like the Almeida and Kiln. Two of my plays, 'Dinner' and 'Handbagged,' even moved to London's West End, which is a famous theater area. As a movie scriptwriter, I've written four films: 'Jane Eyre,' 'Tamara Drewe,' 'Byzantium,' and 'The Dig.' I also helped create the TV show 'Harlots' for Hulu, and I was the main person in charge of it for three seasons.
